I hesistate to even address this topic because I don’t like getting caught up in equipment debates ;-)
The truth is you can get great quality digital images from just about any consumer and/or pro level DSLR.
Having said that, I always get asked “What kind of camera do you use?”. So I will take a moment to outline my equipment and overall digital workflow for you here.
This is by no means the “right way”, it’s just my way. One of the things I love about photography is that there is always more than one right answer!.

Camera bodies - I use both Canon & Pentax DSLR bodies. My Canon bodies consist of the following:
  • EOS 1D mark II
  • EOS 5D
  • EOS 40D
The Pentax models I use are:
  • K20D
  • K10D

Lenses - For me it’s all about the glass. I have a bad case of LBA (lens buying addiction), here is a list of my current Canon Mount lenses:
  • Sigma 15 F2.8 EX
  • Canon 16-35 F2.8 L
  • Canon 24-70 F2.8 L
  • Canon 70-200 IS F2.8 L
  • Canon 50 F1.4
  • Canon 85 F1.8
  • Canon 135 F2 L
  • Sigma 150 F2.8 EX Macro
  • Sigma 120-300 F2.8 EX

For my Pentax bodies I have the following glass:
  • Pentax DA* 16-50 F2.8
  • Pentax DA* 50-135 F2.8
  • Pentax DA* 300 F4
  • Pentax DA 21 F3.2 Limited
  • Pentax FA 31 F1.8 Limited
  • Pentax DA 35 F2.8 Macro Limited
  • Pentax DA 40 F2.8 Limited
  • Pentax FA 50 F1.4
  • Pentax DA 70 F2.4 Limited
  • Pentax D FA 100 F2.8 Macro
  • Sigma 10-20 F4-5.6 EX

Computer Hardware & Software - When you are talking digital imaging you have to talk computers & software. What you do after the capture can make a big difference in your final image. So here is my list of hardware:
  • Apple MacPro Desktop - This is my digital workhorse. Dual 3Ghz Dual Core Xeon processors, 4GB RAM, 2 TB storage space, dual CD/DVD burners
  • Apple 17” MacBook Pro - For when I travel or shoot on location. 2.8 Ghz Dual Core processor, 2GB RAM 100GB storage, great 17” screen.
  • Canon Pixma 9500 pro printer

Now for software:
  • Adobe Lightroom 1 (beta testing version 2) - This is my main application great image organization, key wording and basic editing.
  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 - more advanced editing
  • Apple Aperture 2 - Apples answer to Lightroom... I use it but not much.
  • Photomatix - For HDR work
